    Where are the top-side tar strips on the Certainteed shingle?……It has none. That's why you get a larger nailing area. Duh.
    I would take the GAF, except I don't like that the tar is continuous. It should be in sections so water would technically have a path out if it got underneath.

    Terrible design misleading. You still have to nail in the double laminate area , which is the same as gaf or any other shingles. Nail in the bigger area they will blow off….. Malarkey, and now atlas shingles both have the wider nailing patterns. With the double laminate area. Owens Corning has the sure nail, that has the strip of material, that is wider but if you nail to high in the strip you still miss the double laminate area.
