Containers of Hope | $40,000 Costa Rican Container House by Benjamin Garcia Saxe Architecture. In today’s video we feature am amazing shipping container home built at an unbelievable budged of $40,000? Containers of Hope, Costa Rican Shipping Container House by Benjamin Garcia Saxe Architecture. Containers of Hope is a shipping container home built for a Costa Rican couple who wanted to live debt free on their property outside of San Jose, Costa Rica. Containers of Hope project was built by a renowned architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe for an unbelievable cost of only $US 40,000. The Containers of Hope design is composed of two 40′ shipping containers arranged parallel to each other and slightly set apart and sheared horizontally, to add interest to the floor plan and also make the house appear larger. The mid-section of the Containers of Hope house is fitted with an elevated lean-to roof above the roof of the shipping containers to create clerestory windows to enhance lighting and ventilation.
