Man, I did every step to the tee and still did not come in even third out of six kids. Did better last year knowing none of these tricks. I give up.

Inexplicably, you cannot watch this very good video in restricted mode on my son's computer. Meanwhile, he has no problems watching the deeply idiotic Jake Paul. Can someone please fix this problem?

I blew away all the other cars in 1977 with my pinewood derby car. It had powdered graphite in the axles and slots cut into the sides to act as channels to add more graphite between races by holding it at a 45 degree angle, putting some graphite in a slot, and tapping on the side of the car. The bottom was also bored out with a secret compartment that contained copper plated lead shotgun shell pellets. Just enough that the car was at maximum weight to be legal. When it started down the hill the pellets would shift forward creating inertia. This was banned a few years later as the rule of "no moving components" could be added. I guess the scoutmaster and his two sons never got over losing for the very first time on their own track.

When you apply the weights with duct tape, you said they should be 1" in front of the rear axle. Yet when, in the video, you showed the balance test, the weight appears to be behind the axle…what gives?
