Built in 1890 and added onto in 1940, the home initially did not offer much in the way of luxuries or conveniences. Over the years they had remodeled the upper level bathroom, spray foamed the entire house from the outside, installed in-floor heat, new windows, siding, and steel roofing. The kitchen was last on their list.
Top priorities for the kitchen included bench seating for the 4-member family, more countertop space, an island, and a dishwasher. The work areas and flow needed to change, as did the entrance to the TV room. In addition, the owner knew that she wanted the view from the kitchen to capture the essence of farm life– gentle breezes, open windows, porch sitting, and a view of the little red barn.
