I installed border to my kitchen last night and yes I was alone! It is truly possible to do this project solo without difficulties so don't be afraid 🙂 I used a bucket of water to submerge the pre-cut border for 30 seconds, then as you take it out you want to fold it accordion style paste side to paste side, let it sit for 2 minutes before applying to wall. I used a paper towel balled up to flatten it to the wall and it also gets the excess water and adhesive off the wall. Good luck!!!

To Barbara Morgan. You need to enable comments in your settings. I think you'd probably be okay to use a metal scraper, you just need something flat to remove the excess water.

Thank you for taking the time to show the process. I received wallpaper border from Home Depot and in arrived without any instructions, tools needed, process, hints, etc.  Watching this gave me some hints that I hadn't thought of.

Hello. I just want to say thank you. I bought some wallpaper border for my sons bedroom. The instructions it came with were very difficult to understand. These intructions were written in english, french and spanish. Since I am a native spanish speaker I read them first in spanish, it was impossible to understand so I tried to read it in english but it was impossible as well! Thanks God we have internet and good people who likes to share their knowledege.

Thanks for putting up this video. I've been remodeling my parents bathroom for them and the new shower kit is shorter than the area where the tiles were. So I figured maybe put a border up after I prep the walls. Helpful video, thanks again.
A side note to people putting up a 5 piece shower kit- Sharp wall corners around the shower, rounded corners on the shower kit. There's a gap left in each corner. Come up with a plan on what to do about it. I have nothing, but thought I'd put it out there for people to think about before buying one of these kits. Fill up the hole with spackle and top it off at an angle with silicone?

Just another thought- if you "accordion" fold the border when booking, it might be easier for you if you are doing this alone. Guess I'll find out in a couple of days!

Thank you very much for your video. I bought a few rolls of border and had no idea it was going to be this much work. I thought it was going to be like Contact paper! What's the purpose of the accordion folding? Is that just because it's too long to put water on and then put directly onto the wall?

Thanks so much you guys! This video really helps a lot and I love the idea of using the paint roller and bucket to wet the border! I only wish my border was that low. It's up by the ceiling. LOL
