Hi your first try was good you just needed to use sand paper and a Matt layer of black paint 👌🏻

This looks fascinating, but there are some details missing.  How long do you let the top coat dry before rubbing it with a wet cloth?  Where do you get the chalk paint?  You may have covered some of this in previous videos?   I want to try this so I need all the details!  🙂

Love your videos, I was thinking, if you applied that darker top coat on and wiped it in sections, so it didn't have so long of a drying time, you may not be able to achieve the look of several colors underneath.

OK I love watching you …Your idea was good and it could have worked ! When doing a rub the black or dark brown needed to be watered down a little bit. Working only a small section at a time, and while paint still wet, rub off with damp cloth not paper towel. I think your paint dried making it harder to rub. Must be done while wet ! Bottom colors can be dry (the patches). Topcoat WET. Every fail is a step tward success. I failed on several pieces myself ! That is how you learn ! Great idea !

Fun video to watch. I think I would have like the whole project way better if it had been in a soft grey (instead of chocolate) and sanded smoother.

Loved the technique, relate to the perfectionism😀. Li!e the second way better, though I felt like the first day could have been better with a little more distressing ?

Debi, what makes you unique is that you are real! You try an idea and it doesn't quite work out…. and you are brave and admit it… put it aside, let your mind work through it and you come back and try again. We love it that you are human, not this Miss Perfect that no one can live up to. So, be proud of that! This is why we keep coming back, because you are real. Thank you.

It really popped the second way, the first way was so blah. I love to watch your recordings, I would like to see your finished product for a little bit longer, you don't spend much time letting us get a good gander. Show off your work, lol!! Thanks, keep up the good work!

you're my favorite person on YouTube right now. This is the first time I come across you and I'm thankful I did, Lord knows I needed the extra push to not give up on my half completed project. I love that you didnt pretend you liked your work or deleted the video.

I'm really glad when you show the "mistakes" or results you're not happy with – makes me feel like oh, so we all do that, even the professionals. I think it turned out beautifully at the end! Thanks for sharing.

Actually I liked the first time best, you just needed to distress it more, so the other colors underneath would of came out.
