Looks good! I'm doing a DIY mic boom, will use this to tie the ends of the elastic (using surgical tubing, found in fishing section of Wal-Mart, lol)

    Thanks for posting!

I dunno what it's name is, But it isn't a correct carrick bend. The working ends should be on opposite sides of the knot.

Ah, but it is …. when you make the loop in the beginning, make the working end on the opposite side, so that the top that you place to make the loop is the longer end.

Dont know name of this bend but its definitely not Carrick Bend. This bend is far inferior to Carrick one.

Todd K: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrick_bend shows that the Carrick Bend and the Double Coin Knot are just different names for the same knot. If as you say they are not the same, what then is the difference?

Hi Mike, they are close. However, with the superior (so they say…) Carrick Bend, the working ends of each rope exit opposite to one another. When the knot is tightened (by pulling on working ends only) these ends will end up perpendicular to the knot created. Stronger… Easy way to tell is the tag ends of the pretty pretzel should be on opposite sides. Cheers!

Edit: I don't know about stronger, maybe it is just easier to untie?
