How to Sketch People Anywhere and Without Experience

Beginner Drawing Course:

Hey friends!

In this video drawing lesson I teach you how to sketch people, wherever you are!

I tried keeping the lesson very simple, focusing on general guidelines and tips on how to successfully sketch people, as well as different scenes in general.

Here is the reference I used for this sketch:

I changed a lot of things this time. There is NO time lapse. There is background music all the way through.

Please let me know what you think of this new format, and whether it is more fun to watch. Also feel free to ask questions, and request a video (:

And as always, be sure to visit my website:

And I’ll catch you later!

– Liron

Music is overpowering and often makes it hard to hear you. Also, quit apologizing for the camera and the lighting. Fix it or forget it. Finally, your stereotypes of what someone looks like at a particular age are just meaningless.

This is the first time I've watched one of your videos, but I really enjoy these real-time, kind of stream-of-consciousness videos. Thanks for sharing. I'll check out more of your videos in the future.

Another great one. I actually found this relaxing. I'd rather not have the background music. You have a soothing voice.
    I'd like to see a Q&A.

    Excellent video. Very helpful.

I'm working on my fine art skills and fashion illustration at the same time. The proportions are very different but fashion illustration is very helpful for rendering clothing in fine art sketches. The lines of the folds on clothing are usually softer and more rounded because fabric is soft and drapes around the body.

drawing uses the right side of your brain, and talking or explaining uses the left side of your brain, (if you are R handed). This makes it more difficult to draw and explain at the same time.

Only using my huge Dylusions Art Journal for awhile, drawing purely from imagination, painting with mixed media, I am enjoying your earlier drawing lesson videos! I have never drawn anything from a reference. I will, but my mother used to say when I was a kid, "Terrie you have a photographic memory." I do not know why she thought or said that, I only remembered it a few weeks ago. But I dont even know if there is such a thing- likely not. But I do have good recall of shapes and colors- and I just use it for fun. I am refusing my watercolor paper until I have exhausted my "break time" Thanks Liron, this is a good lesson.

Thanks so much for drawing with little bitty sketchy motions. You would not believe how intimidated I have been by all the instructions I see out there to make long, bold, committed motions, using elbow and not wrist. I feel like what I do is SO much better when I make small motions and kind of "push" the graphite around.

At around 21 to 22 minutes you mentioned someone who said that drawing with a pen is liberating, and that you enjoy his (?) videos. I can't catch the name. Who is it, please?

    Love your videos! Thanks!

I just think that this is only important if you do scapes and use people as the decoration… if you really want it to be correctly looking, you should focus on the anatomy of the human…. at least enough to know why and where things go

Would you like to try drawing, then painting moss. The kind that hangs from Southern US Oak and other trees. Show it blowing in the wind and hanging. Beautiful. I haven't figured out how to master it on paper.

Love the videos Liron, I'm glad to see your channel growing! I'm not a fan of the background music playing during a tutorial video, it's just a bit distracting to listen to the music and you simultaneously, but the content itself is wonderful.

You do a great job. I suggest that you video yourself drawing unencumbered with needing to speak, and then do a voice over to explain what's going on.
