    your bamboo house is for those who can afford and it is for experienced to live in that kind of house.It is not really for family dwelling but a cottage where one can temporary stay then return to where they really live as a house. I lived in a bamboo house of a rice farming peasant family in the province since I was born in the early 60's. The roof is not galvanized but made of Cogon grasses. If people today can see that kind of roofing they will comment that it will burn when fire or even a cigarette butt is thrown on it. That will happen if someone intend to do that. In the Tagalog region they uses the palm leaves. but the Cogon, when they are put as roofing in thick layers is more sturdy from being penetrated while the palm thatched will sustain holes that you can see the sky sooner or let rainwater in to your flooring. A bamboo house with Cogon roofing is cool inside in warm days and more cool during rainy days.

    Have to congratulate you, think location looked so beautiful. The list of costs was so interesting. So cheap down there!
    Maybe I should retire down there, as I have a daughter who lives there? Yet the rain must be really load under that roof
    in the monsoon season. I love the sound of rain, yet that would be too much without insulating, helps with the heat too.
    Thanks for the film, was so great.

    100 pesos per piece? Dude I don't know, but I think you got ripped off. From where I'm from it's only 10-15 pesos a piece. Anyway, nice house you got there, I hope you guys stay happy. I'm actually thinking about starting my own business that make longboard/skateboards out of bamboo. Here's hoping

    The title is misleading because the basic structures of the house are made of lumber, not bamboo.

    You mentioned that the coconut tree cost you 300 pesos… (SOUNDS like a lot!) 300 Philippine Pesos= $5.86 US Dollars. One 'board' would cost twice that much here in the US.
    The cost of labor was only $3.91 (200 pesos) a day, per person! (X 5 people X 16 days= $312.80 US)

    one thing i learned in these bamboo houses, even when the bamboo is covered or painted, later on if you start seeing little brown balls all over the place on the bed and floors. thats termite poop they are in the roof eating it.

    Sir, I think you should cut the part showing the coconut tree that was cut since it is illegal in the Philippines to cut one without a permit. This is so even if you own the lot where the tree is on.

    php = philippine pesos?
    pieces sounds like pesos.

    What did you use to preserve bamboo, so it does not rot in humid air?

    I feel sorry for the pigs having to live their whole lives in that sty. Also, considering periodic cyclones, I don't know that I'd want a house of wood, much less bamboo. I was in Puerto Rico for two Category 4-5 hurricanes, and I appreciated the cement housing because they tore everything else up.

    Pigs are quite smart, I bet if you wiped it each time it made noise, it would stop. Another option is to not give them food until the make no noise. Keep in mind that genetic has a lot to do with it.

    I don't believe the 16 days. More like 16 months as slow as those guys are. It looks like it took him 1/2 an hour to cut one tree. That was agonizing I could have done it faster with a machete much less a 36" chain saw.
