This a project we recently completed in Ventura which is near Camarillo, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, and Santa Barbara. This community was completed about 5 years ago and the previous owner had never done anything with the yard so we had a clean slate to work with. We started by installing a drainage system that carries all water to the front yards and terminates in pop-up outlets just behind the sidewalk in the lawn. We then installed two electrical outlets, one for the turtle heater and the other for the fountain. Gas line came next as we installed the key valve for the firepit and a connection for the customer’s bbq. We then built the seatwall and firepit using the Keystone Country Manor mortarless wall system. We filled the firepit with lavarock and fireglass which adds a nice sparkle to the flames. Concrete patios, walkways, and curbs were then formed and poured. We did an integral pour of Davis Color “Sierra” and then did a dust-on color of Alcachrome “Autumn Brown” in the field. The patio was then sealed with three coats of water-based sealer. Patio cover was then built and primed and painted to match the house trim. We added a “miner” style light that hangs down in the middle of the patio cover. We then built the synthetic turf putting green and raised redwood garden bed. We brought in Santa Barbara Sandstone boulders to accent the turle area which also doubles as the garden area. Drip Irrigation provides water to all the plants and is controlled by a Rainbird ESP-SMT Smart Timer which has weather based scheduling.
